However, due to the dynamic nature of MemberPress, installing a caching plugin without setting it up properly can cause some unwanted consequences. The most serious one is the inability to process transactions appropriately, which can cause financial losses to the website owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That's why we've decided to list the most popular caching plugins and show how to set them up properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the settings are based on MemberPress defaults for <em>Thank You, Account, Login, <\/em>and <em>Registration<\/em> pages, as shown in this image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-QrBCgeGWLA.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The default slugs are<strong>\/thank-you, \/account, \/login, <\/strong>and <strong>\/register<\/strong>. In addition, MemberPress uses the <strong>\/unauthorized<\/strong> slug for handling unauthorized access redirects, and <strong>\/mepr<\/strong> for the internal operations of Webhooks, PayPal IPN URL, etc. If you <strong>change any of the first four<\/strong>, or if you add your own registration pages made in some page builder, you'll need to adjust the slugs and URLs accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-danger\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you have the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/addons\/coachkit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">CoachKit add-on<\/a><\/strong> active on your site, you must also add the <strong>\/coaching<\/strong> slug to the exclusions list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-danger\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you have the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/addons\/downloads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">MemberPress Downloads<\/a><\/strong> active on your site, you must also add the <strong><strong>\/mpdl<\/strong><\/strong> slug to the exclusions list<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p id=\"top\"><strong><u>So, here they are, in alphabetical order:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#breeze\">Breeze<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#comet\">Comet Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#FlyingPress--5X93\">FlyingPress<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#humming\">Hummingbird<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#hyper\">Hyper Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#kinsta\">Kinsta Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#litespeed\">LiteSpeed Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#nitropack\">NitroPack<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#sgo\">Speed Optimizer<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#sucuri\">Sucuri Firewall<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#w3tc\">W3 Total Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#wpfc\">WP Fastest Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#wpo\">WP-Optimize<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#wpr\">WP Rocket<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#wpsc\">WP Super Cache<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"breeze\">Breeze<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to the <em>Settings -> Breeze<\/em> section of your WordPress Dashboard. Then add full URLs of your <strong>Thank You<\/strong>, <strong>Account,<\/strong> and Login pages and partial URLs for Register, \/<strong>mepr<\/strong>, and \/<strong>unauthorized<\/strong> pages. <strong>Finish all of them with (.*)<\/strong> as shown on the screenshot below, in the <em>Advanced Options<\/em> section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-I94AL9Fzwg.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When done, don't forget to click the blue Save Changes button at the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breeze plugin often comes preloaded with Cloudways hosting. If that's the case, you'll also have to exclude the same URLs from their Varnish cache if enabled. Please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.cloudways.com\/en\/articles\/5496342-how-to-use-varnish-at-cloudways#h_4f3846fd10\">https:\/\/support.cloudways.com\/en\/articles\/5496342-how-to-use-varnish-at-cloudways#h_4f3846fd10<\/a> to see how to do it correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"comet\">Comet Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>Comet Cache -> URI Exclusions<\/em> and then add <strong>\/thank-you**<\/strong>, <strong>\/account**<\/strong>, <strong>\/login**<\/strong>, <strong>\/register**<\/strong> <strong>\/unauthorized**<\/strong> and <strong>\/mepr**<\/strong> to the text box. Each is in its own row. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the green Save All Changes button. The final result should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-ZMuEZTtBNe.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you're going to use CDN that's built-in in the Pro version, you'd need to add the same to the <strong>Blocked URI Exclusion Patterns<\/strong> text box, located in the <strong>Static CDN Filters<\/strong> section, like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-lrW96wGO3C.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"FlyingPress--5X93\">FlyingPress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to the <i>Cache<\/i> section and ensure that the <b>Cache logged-in<\/b> users option is not checked. Then add \/<strong>thank-you<\/strong>, \/<strong>account<\/strong>, \/<strong>login<\/strong>, \/<strong>register<\/strong>, \/<strong>mepr<\/strong>, and <b>\/unauthorized<\/b> to the <b>Exclude pages from the caching<\/b> textbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-v0LSZU1xD7.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When done, click the blue <b>Save changes<\/b> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"humming\">Hummingbird<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to the <em>Hummingbird -> Cache<\/em> section of your WordPress Dashboard. Then scroll down the page to the Exclusions text box. Enter <strong>\/thank-you\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/account\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/login\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/register\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/mepr\/,<\/strong> and <strong>\/unauthorized\/<\/strong> in the box, each in its own row. When done, please click the blue Save Settings button at the bottom right. The final result will look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-TvL3rb4JmE.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hyper\">Hyper Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>Settings -> Hyper Cache -> Bypasses<\/em> tab, and then add <strong>\/thank-you<\/strong>, <strong>\/account<\/strong>, <strong>\/login<\/strong>, <strong>\/register<\/strong>,<strong> \/unauthorized,<\/strong> and \/<strong>mepr <\/strong>to the Do not cache pages with URIs starting with a text box. Each is in its own row. <strong>Do not forget to click the Enable checkbox<\/strong>. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue Save button. The final result should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-AInx4jmw5S.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"kinsta\">Kinsta Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kinsta Cache is, by default, installed and activated on all Kinsta hosting plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They used to have a plugin that controlled the cache behaviors, but it was discontinued after they changed the way caching was implemented. In order to exclude MemberPress pages from caching, please contact their <a href=\"https:\/\/kinsta.com\/kinsta-support\/\">support team<\/a> and ask for \u201c<strong>\/thank-you<\/strong>\u201c, \u201c<strong>\/account<\/strong>\u201c, \u201c<strong>\/login<\/strong>\u201c, \u201c<strong>\/register<\/strong>\u201c, \u201c<strong>\/mepr<\/strong>\u201c, and \u201c<strong>\/unauthorized<\/strong>\u201d URLs and all of its variations to be excluded from caching. Once done, please purge the cache from the WordPress dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have changed the defaults offered by MemberPress in the Pages tab, you'll have to adjust URLs to reflect those used in your case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"litespeed\">LiteSpeed Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The LiteSpeed Cache plugin usually comes preinstalled and activated with every LiteSpeed-based hosting when you install WordPress. If not, it can be downloaded <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/litespeed-cache\/\">from here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, navigate to <em>LiteSpeed Cache -> Settings -> [1] Cache<\/em> tab and make sure that the <strong>Cache Logged-in Users [*]<\/strong> and <strong>Cache Login Page<\/strong> options are set to OFF. Click the Save Changes button in the top right corner before moving to another tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-kGRImLJj9g.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: We have reports from our customers that you can leave this feature set to ON and that it doesn't cause any issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>LiteSpeed Cache -> Settings -> [4] Excludes<\/em> tab, <em><strong>Do Not Cache URIs<\/strong><\/em> section. After that, add <strong>\/thank-you\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/account<\/strong>\/, <strong>\/login\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/register\/<\/strong>, <strong>\/unauthorized\/,<\/strong> and \/mepr\/ to the text box. Each is in its own row. When done, click the Save Changes button. The final result should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-pQdmyuIP4R.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: Please don't forget to adjust your URIs if you have changed the default ones offered by MemberPress. Also, make sure to add slugs of any custom registration and \u201cthank you\u201d pages you have created using MemberPress shortcodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>LiteSpeed Cache -> Settings -> [6] Object<\/em> tab and ensure the <strong>Object Cache<\/strong> is OFF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-usZEHShOKt.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find more details about other LiteSpeed Cache options on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.litespeedtech.com\/2020\/06\/10\/wpw-the-beginners-guide-to-litespeed-cache-for-wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beginner's Guide to LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress<\/a> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"nitropack\">Nitropack<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <a href=\"https:\/\/nitropack.io\/user\/settings\">General Settings<\/a>, then locate the box <strong>Excluded<\/strong> <strong>URLs<\/strong> and enable the option (click the toggle on the right).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then enter these URLs as shown:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*thank-you*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*account*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*login*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*register*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*unathorized*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*mepr*<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When done,<strong> c<\/strong>lick <strong>Save<\/strong> on the top right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"sgo\">Speed Optimizer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Speed Optimizer (previously <i>SG Optimizer<\/i>) is, by default, installed and activated when you buy any SiteGround shared hosting plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <i>Speed Optimizer<\/i><em> > Caching<\/em> and first ensure that the <strong>Memcached is disabled<\/strong>. After that, scroll further down the page and click the \u201cPencil\u201d button in the <strong>Exclude URLs from Caching<\/strong> section. Then add <strong>thank-you*<\/strong>, <strong>account*<\/strong>, <strong>login*<\/strong>, <strong>register*<\/strong>, <strong>unauthorized*<\/strong>, and <strong>mepr*<\/strong> one by one by clicking the \u201cPlus\u201d button in the <strong>Exclude URLs from Caching<\/strong> section and clicking the blue Confirm button when done. The final result should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-8w1N3LAoGS.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you change the default MemberPress page URIs, you must use those instead of the first four entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that some SiteGround servers continue caching Stripe webhook and PayPal IPN URLs even after all the exclusions are set up correctly. In a case like that, the additional exclusion will have to be done through the .htaccess file as outlined in <a href=\"https:\/\/eu.siteground.com\/kb\/disable-dynamic-caching-website\/#Exclude_a_single_page_from_the_cache\">https:\/\/eu.siteground.com\/kb\/disable-dynamic-caching-website\/#Exclude_a_single_page_from_the_cache<\/a> document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The additional code will look like this (for Stripe):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f5f5f5\"><If \"%{THE_REQUEST} =~ m#\/mepr\/notify\/xxxxx-xxx\/whk#\">\n  <IfModule mod_headers.c>\nHeader set Cache-Control \"private\"\n<\/IfModule>\n<\/If><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>You'll need to replace the <b>\/mepr\/notify\/xxxxx-xxx\/whk<\/b> with the actual webhook whose URL you can get from <a href=\"https:\/\/dashboard.stripe.com\/webhooks\">https:\/\/dashboard.stripe.com\/webhooks<\/a> page. PayPal's IPN URL is visible from the MemberPress>Settings>Payments tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since a malformed .htaccess file can bring your website down, if you don't feel comfortable doing this on your own, please ask SiteGround support to assist you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"sucuri\">Sucuri Firewall (and cache)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sucuri Firewall plugin contains a caching part, too, as a paid feature or as a part of Sucuri hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Performance tab, select <strong>Site caching<\/strong><em><strong> (using your site headers)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-AHKbpbRtec.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then click the <strong> Non-Cache URLs<\/strong> section. There, just add the full address of the directory or pages you want to avoid caching. You'd need to add \/thank-you, \/account, \/login, \/register, \/unauthorized and \/mepr. Click the Add URL button after every entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-uTSB0wjsZm.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Before saving, select the <strong>Clear cache too (optional)<\/strong> checkbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"w3tc\">W3 Total Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please do<strong> not<\/strong> enable <strong>Database Cache<\/strong> and <strong>Object Cache<\/strong> on the <em>Performance -> General Settings<\/em> page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, navigate to <em>Performance -> Page Cache -> General<\/em> and make sure that the option <em>Don't cache pages for logged in users<\/em> is checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-Ul0jIQsbT0.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>Performance -> Page Cache -> Never cache the following pages<\/em> and add <strong>\/thank-you*<\/strong>, <strong>\/account*<\/strong>, <strong>\/login*<\/strong>, <strong>\/register*<\/strong>,<strong> \/unauthorized*<\/strong> and <strong>\/mepr*<\/strong> to the text box. Each in its own row. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue Save Settings & Purge Caches button. The final result should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-2uqxrgzHBg.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wpfc\">WP Fastest Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>WP Fastest Cache -> Settings<\/em> tab and make sure that the <em>Don't show the cached version for logged-in users<\/em> option is <em>enabled:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-uxl2k6nc0E.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>WP Fastest cache -> Exclude<\/em> tab. Click the grey Add New Rule button and add the <strong>thank-you<\/strong>, <strong>account<\/strong>, <strong>login<\/strong>, <strong>register<\/strong>, <strong>unauthorized<\/strong> and <strong>mepr<\/strong> as <em>Starts With<\/em> URIs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-QTXxt36wBj.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click the green Save button to add those URIs one by one. The final result should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-UKBZvdkhN5.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you experience an issue where the unauthorized page(s) with the login form would just refresh after entering login credentials (a member would be logged in, but would have access to only a fraction of the protected content), you might need to add a rule of the \u201d <strong>Contains:<\/strong>\u201d category, which would prevent caching of those pages. What part of the URL the rule would be based upon depends on the actual URL. So if those pages would contain <strong>\u201c-members<\/strong>\u201d in the URL, you could target that string.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final result would look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-mj60vK7K2Z.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wpo\">WP-Optimize<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>WP-Optimize -> Settings -> Cache -> Page cache<\/em> tab and make sure that the option <em>Serve cached pages to logged in users<\/em> is disabled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/file-cMtrF4PGIn.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em>WP-Optimize -> Settings -> Cache -> Advanced settings<\/em> tab and add <strong>\/thank-you\/*<\/strong>, <strong>\/account\/*<\/strong>, <strong>\/login\/<\/strong>*, <strong>\/register\/*<\/strong>, <strong>\/unauthorized\/*<\/strong> and <strong>\/mepr\/*<\/strong> to the text box. That's because it creates completely separate caching sessions for every user.
