Make sure you also select the <em>Allow Only One Trial<\/em> checkbox to prevent students from signing up for multiple free trials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you configure the rest of the settings and publish this membership, you can use MemberPress access rules to require that students sign up for it to enroll in your course. If you would like to charge a one-time fee instead, you must still select <em>Recurring<\/em> as the <em>Billing Type.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you can then scroll down and select the checkbox next to <em>Limit Payment Cycles<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"554\" height=\"1090\" src=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/limit-payment-cycles.png\" alt=\"Limiting payment cycles to create a course with a free trial and a one-time purchase.\" class=\"wp-image-24692\" srcset=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/limit-payment-cycles.png 554w, https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/limit-payment-cycles-152x300.png 152w, https:\/\/memberpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/limit-payment-cycles-520x1024.png 520w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Set the <em>Max # of Payments<\/em> to one (1) and the <em>Access After Last Cycle<\/em> to <em>Lifetime Access<\/em> \u2013 that is, unless you also want to implement a limited course access duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_Use_MemberPress_Rules_to_Set_the_Course_Access_Duration\"><\/span><strong>Step 3: Use MemberPress Rules to Set the Course Access Duration<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The first way to implement a limited course access duration is by using the <em>Limit Payment Cycles<\/em> setting as described above. Just set the <em>Access After Last Cycle<\/em> option to <em>Expire Access<\/em> or <em>Expire Access After<\/em> a set number of days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you can also use MemberPress access rules to <a href=\"https:\/\/memberpress.com\/docs\/dripping-and-expiring-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">set an expiration period<\/a> for your student memberships. To do so, navigate to <em>MemberPress > Rules > Add New<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under <em>Content & Access<\/em>, you can select which courses this access duration will apply to, and which members can register for those classes. Once you've configured these settings, scroll down to the <em>Drip \/ Expiration<\/em> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the <em>Enable Expiration<\/em> checkbox.
