As a business owner, you quickly understand that trust is everything in your business. And when you are the owner of a membership business, your members need to be sure that you are trustworthy and knowledgeable in your business. Building your credibility as a business owner is not something that happens easily, but it is so worth it once you put it into practice.
Building credibility is a great marketing tactic for your business because it shows that you are genuinely committed to your business, and you aren’t interested in just making a quick buck.
Below are a few practices you can implement to build credibility and positively market your membership business!
Accept Opportunities To Be Featured
One great way to build your credibility and market your membership site is by getting featured! It's great to feature yourself on your own membership business blog, YouTube page, or podcast, but the real key to building credibility is by branching out and accepting opportunities to be featured on other business' platforms. Write guest posts for other blogs, speak at conferences, and accept interview requests. This shows that other businesses respect your opinion and shows that you are an authority in your industry!
Be Aware Of Your
Any credible business owner understands the importance of knowing their audience. By understanding who follows you, you are better able to present your content in a way that your current and potential customers can understand and appreciate! So take time to figure out what your followers like and dislike, their interests, and what offends them. It will be worth it in the long run!
Don't Sell All The Time
One of the biggest mistakes that business owners tend to make when establishing credibility is by overselling their product or service. It's okay to showcase what your business has to offer, but no one likes to be sold to all the time, and people will quickly retreat from you if you become that person! So offer advice to your followers, share details about your life, interact with your fans. This will show your human side and let your fans know that you truly care and aren't just trying to make a sale!
Use Your Network
Another less commonly used way to build your membership business' credibility is by tapping into your network! Examine the individuals or businesses that you are around and their authority. Then think about whether or not their influence can help to build authority with your audience. Perhaps you have a great relationship with another popular company – try to see if you can interview one of their team members for your website or try to snag a guest post for yourself on their company website! This will provide exposure for both parties and allows their audience an option to trust you, since it shows that that company also trusts you.
Be Consistent
Last, but not least, BE CONSISTENT! Nobody likes a person that pops in and out as they please. Make sure you are posting regularly, writing regularly, and making videos or podcasts for your membership site regularly. Stay in their face, and you'll stay in their hearts!
If you want to take your membership business to the next level, building credibility is essential. There are so many tools out there available to business owners to help your business grow – there's no excuse not to take advantage of it!

Consistency is key and at times for me can be the hardest. Reminds me of Seth Godin’s drip, drip, drip
Totally agree! But the important thing is that you never give up!
