What is MemberPress in a nutshell?
MemberPress is a WordPress membership site plugin that makes it easy to charge your users for access to content and digital products such as software and e-books.

Can I roll out an Affiliate Program along with a MemberPress Membership Site?

Can I sell physical goods with MemberPress?
MemberPress isn’t a shopping cart plugin … it excels in selling memberships and digital products. As such the checkout process in MemberPress can be much simpler than when purchasing physical goods. MemberPress is also a master of recurring subscription payments … it’s been built from the ground up to specialize in subscriptions—and to automatically grant or revoke access based on the current state of the subscription payments.
Can I use MemberPress on my Client’s sites?
Purchasing a MemberPress Plus or Pro license will enable you to install active copies of it on your client’s sites. You can install it on as many sites as your license allows. Your clients will come to you for support, and you to us if needed. If your client would like to access our support directly, they will need their own license.
Do you have an affiliate program?

Why is a yearly subscription required to purchase MemberPress?
Since businesses run on MemberPress, it’s critical that it always stay secure, up to date and stable. When you buy MemberPress you can use it for a year, but in order for us to continue provide you with a high level of support and regular updates, we require an automatic yearly renewal. Of course, regardless of if you decide to renew or not, MemberPress will not lose any frontend functionality. To learn more about how this could affect you click here.
Will my membership site stop working if my license expires?
Ongoing MemberPress updates will be absolutely critical to the security, performance and overall success of your membership site. So if your license expires, you’ll be encouraged to renew MemberPress. Don’t worry though, you’ll still be able to view & edit your members, export your data and, of course, the front end of your membership site will still continue to work just fine–as long as MemberPress is installed. Also, don’t forget that our support team will always there to ensure you and your members are well taken care of.
Can I use MemberPress with any WordPress theme?
Absolutely—MemberPress can protect any posts, pages, or custom post types…and the front-end pages it generates such as the product registration, login, account and pricing pages are all theme neutral. Also, for advanced users, a high level of customization can be achieved using page templates and custom css.
What payment gateways does MemberPress work with?
Currently MemberPress integrates with PayPal Standard, PayPal Express Checkout, PayPal Website Payments Pro, Authorize.net (AIM & ARB) and Stripe. These gateways allow for a much more secure and PCI compliant ability to charge credit cards and each provide a mechanism for issuing automatic recurring payments.
Does MemberPress work with any email marketing systems?
Yes, currently MemberPress works with numerous email marketing systems. Refer to our Auto-Responders add-on list to see our supported email marketing systems.
Does MemberPress work with any forum software?
Yes, at this time MemberPress works well with WordPress based forum software like bbPress and Simple Press Forum.
Is it possible for me to migrate from an existing Membership system?
Yes, as long as you can export your data (either via an export script or the database) you can use our MemberPress Importer add-on to easily import Users, Products, Coupons, Rules, Transactions and even active, automated recurring Subscriptions with PayPal Express Checkout, Authorize.net ARB or Stripe. You can read more about it in our User Manual.
Can I protect videos with MemberPress?
Yes, with the MemberPress AWS Add On. We also have users who are using MemberPress in conjunction with Vimeo, Brightcove, Wistia, Viddler and other such video hosting services.
Does MemberPress generate public or front-end protected user profiles?
No, MemberPress focuses on protecting content and creating subscriptions. MemberPress can work along-side several other plugins that can give your users front-end user profiles like BuddyPress. MemberPress Plus and Pro editions include a BuddyPress integration.
Cannot activate License, or need to move License to a new site?
If you cannot activate your license because the usage limit has been reached, or if you simply want to deactivate your license on an old site and move it to a new site then please do the following:
- Head to your Account Page
- Next to your License Key, click the “Deactivate All” button
- Your License Key will be free’d up and you can now activate the license elsewhere
Customer paid, but no “Complete” Transaction is recorded in MemberPress?
If you’ve verified that your customer’s payment went through at the gateway, but you’re not seeing any completed record of that in MemberPress’ Transactions page, then this could indicate that there is a communication issue between MemberPress and your gateway. Most of the time the solution is to copy your IPN URL (PayPal), Webhook URL (Stripe), or MD5 Hash & Silent Post URL (Authorize.net) from MemberPress and paste it into your gateway account settings. If you’re confident that your gateway is configured properly, then please submit the form below for further assistance from our support team.
Errors showing next to my signup form fields?
Try heading to MemberPress -> Options -> General Tab -> Enable the “Global CSS Styles” option. Then clear your caches and check the signup forms again. If you still have the problem, fill out the form below and we’ll be happy to look into it further.
How do I handle customer credit cards that get reissued, updated, or what happens if a customer needs to switch cards?
If the customer’s subscription is recurring, they will see an “update” link option in their account page in MemberPress. Clicking that update link will allow them to enter their new card details. If their recurring subscription is through PayPal Express Checkout or Standard, then they cannot update through MemberPress. They will need to update via their PP account instead.
My customers aren’t receiving any email from MemberPress.
Not all web hosts are setup to deliver email out of the box from your WordPress installation. Luckily you can connect your WordPress website to one of several different email services such as SendGrid or Mandrill using their accompanying plugins found here and here. This should dramatically increase the deliverability of your emails. You can read more about membership email delivery on our blog. Failure to receive emails could also indicate there’s an issue with your payment gateway setup. Be sure that you followed all outlined steps for your payment gateway setup.
Saving the Options not working – my changes won’t stick.
Be sure that you’ve filled out the “Info” tab in the MemberPress Options. There are some required business information fields on that tab that can be easy to overlook.
Why do my customers’ subscriptions appear to expire within a day?
MemberPress allows the new member a 24 hour grace period on recurring subscriptions, to give the gateway time to setup the subscription on their end and process the first payment. This usually happens almost immediately but in some cases it can take up to 24 hours to complete (especially with Authorize.net). Without the grace period, the member would have to wait for this to happen before they could access the protected content. You can disable the grace period in the MemberPress Options if you want to make your member’s wait though. If after 24 hours, the subscription’s expiration date has not updated then there may be issues with your gateway setup or settings. So please be sure you followed the setup instructions for your gateway correctly.
Your support videos say to click on a link called “Products” but I can’t find it.
In MemberPress 1.2+ we’ve changed the “Products” to be more aptly named “Memberships.” As we update our videos this will be much clearer. But for now just know that when the video instructs you to click the “Products” link … just look for and click the “Memberships” link instead.
