How to Enable Amazon Pay With Stripe and MemberPress?

Amazon Pay is an eWallet-based payment method available worldwide through Stripe integration. Customers can save their debit and credit card details and authorize payments through the platform.

MemberPress integration with Stripe allows you to receive payments through Amazon Pay. This document will show you how to set this up and provide more details on Amazon Pay.  

Receiving Payments With Amazon Pay

Amazon Pay is supported only through the built-in MemberPress integration with Stripe. Thus, before enabling Amazon Pay, please connect Stripe to MemberPress on your site and test the connection to ensure it functions well.

After properly setting your Stripe connection, please enable Amazon Pay as a payment method in your Stripe account and then in MemberPress. You will find the Amazon Pay option in your Stripe account by navigating to Settings > Payments > Payment Methods and scrolling down to the Wallets section.

Note: MemberPress registration forms show Amazon Pay as a Stripe payment method when this option is enabled in MemberPress settings. The Amazon Pay option will show on your forms, even if it's not enabled in your Stripe account. To avoid possible issues, ensure that Amazon Pay is enabled in your Stripe account before enabling it in MemberPress.

Once Amazon Pay is enabled, your membership registration forms will show this new payment option. The Amazon Pay payment option will be available on both Stripe Checkout and Stripe Element forms. 

When users submit the registration form, they will be redirected to Amazon Pay to authorize the payment. Once the payment is confirmed, users will automatically be returned to your site.

What’s Important to Know About Using Amazon Pay?

Amazon Pay can be used as a payment method for both recurring and non-recurring payments. It also supports memberships with free or paid trials.

Amazon Pay integration has several limitations imposed by Amazon Pay or Stripe. The Amazon Pay payment option will show on MemberPress registration pages only if all conditions are met.

To start with, at the moment, the US Dollar is the only currency Stripe supports for Amazon Pay. Thus, to use Amazon Pay with MemberPress, please ensure that the currency in MemberPress settings is set to USD.

Note: Support for additional Amazon Pay currencies is in the Beta phase on Stripe.

Furthermore, the country you set in your MemberPress settings must be one of the supported merchant countries. Stripe supports the following countries for Amazon Pay: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Note: The country in your Stripe account settings must also be set to one of the supported merchant countries. Amazon Pay will only be available on MemberPress registration pages if your business is registered in a supported country.
