MemberPress allows you to create two kinds of thank you pages to send users to after they complete the registration process for your Memberships:
- Global Thank You Page
- Per-Membership Custom Thank You Pages OR Messages
Below each message will be discussed in greater detail, including how to create and edit the message.
We recommend not using a rule to protect the thank you page. Instead of including sensitive or member-only information on the thank you page, add a link to a different page with this information that can then be protected by a rule.
Global Thank You Page
Creating the Page
To create the global thank you page in MemberPress all you need to do is navigate to MemberPress > Settings > Pages tab and near the top of the page to the right of the ‘MemberPress Thank You Page' option, use the drop-down to select ‘- Auto Create New Page -‘ and then click the ‘Update Options' button at the very bottom of the page.
You can also use the drop-down menu to select any other page you'd like to designate as your global thank you page. If you do this, just be sure to review the ‘Editing the Page' section next.
Editing the Page
From the MemberPress > Settings > Pages tab you can click the ‘Edit' button on the ‘MemberPress Thank You Page' option under the ‘Reserved Pages' section. You can also search for your thank you page after it has been created in the WordPress > Pages section and click the edit option there.
The edit page will look and behave like any other WordPress page would. Simply use the WordPress Visual or Text editor to edit the page. Most custom page builders should also work to edit this page.
Per-Membership Custom Thank You Pages OR Messages
Creating a Custom Thank You Message
Before you will be able to create any custom page messages, please make sure that you have created your global thank you page. This is because the thank you page message isn't a separate page at all, rather it is a message that is placed on your global thank you page. Custom thank you pages will always be used in place of a global one if they have been set.
To create a custom thank you page message you will need to go to the MemberPress plugin in your WordPress Dashboard > Memberships > click on the membership you'd like the custom thank you page for > navigate to the Membership Options > and finally in the Registration tab, click the checkbox for ‘Enable custom thank you page message.'

Simply entering your message in the visual or text editor there and clicking the ‘Update' button will save this custom thank you page message.
Editing the Custom Thank You Message or Page
To edit the message or page simply navigate to the same place you created it (outlined above) and use the visual or text editor to provide any edits to the message.
Keep in mind that the following shortcodes will not work properly on the Thank You page:
[mepr-active]
[mepr-show]
[mepr-hide]
Creating a Custom Thank You Page
This is different from the custom thank you message in that you are selecting a unique page to send the user to that acts as a custom thank you page. This is a great option if you need to add an analytic or tracking code to your thank you page that works per membership. To use this feature, follow these steps:
- In your WordPress Dashboard > Pages > Add New, create a new page. This will act as your thank you page.
- Per-membership, in your Membership Options (when editing or creating a membership) > Registration tab > click the checkbox for the “Enable custom thank you page message” option.
- Click the Enable Custom Thank You page radio button (you may need to scroll down a bit to see this option).
- From the drop-down, select the page you created in step 1 that will act as your custom thank-you page. Alternatively, you can select the option “- Auto Create New page -” if you'd like MemberPress to create that page for you (requires you to put content on the page still).
Not Redirecting to the Thank You Page
If your users are not properly redirected to either the global or custom thank you page after the payment is submitted on the registration page, then there is one main cause for this. And that is if you have not properly set up the Return URL in your PayPal account IF the user checked out with a PayPal gateway. To review how to set this correctly, please click on one of the following links for your gateway:
PayPal Express Checkout or PayPal Standard.
If you are sure that your PayPal Account's Return URL settings are correct, and users aren't being taken to your thank you page after checkout, please
let us know.
