BLIK is a bank redirect payment method allowing consumers in Poland to make immediate online payments from their Polish bank account.
MemberPress integration with Stripe allows you to receive payments through BLIK. This document will show you how to set this up and provide more details on BLIK.
Receiving Payments With BLIK
BLIK is supported only through the built-in MemberPress integration with Stripe. Thus, before enabling BLIK, please connect Stripe to MemberPress on your site, and test the connection to make sure it’s functioning well.
After your Stripe connection is properly set, please enable BLIK as a payment method in your Stripe account, and then in MemberPress. You will find the BLIK option in your Stripe account by navigating to Settings > Payment Methods and scrolling down to the “Bank redirects” section.
Please check more details on setting this up in the “How To Enable Payment Methods With Stripe and Memberpress” document.
Once BLIK is enabled, your membership registration forms will show this new payment option. The BLIK payment option will be available only with the Stripe Checkout form.
When your users submit the registration form, they will be asked to authorize the payment using the BLIK six-digit code retrieved from their banking application.
What’s Important to Know About Using BLIK?
The BLIK payment option will show only if all conditions are met, as BLIK integration comes with several limitations imposed by BLIK or Stripe.
Firstly, it’s important to mention that BLIK can only be used for non-recurring payments. Thus, this payment method will not be visible on the registration pages of your recurring memberships. Also, BLIK doesn’t support delayed payments. Accordingly, BLIK as a payment option will not be available for memberships with free or paid trials.
Next, as already mentioned, BLIK will not be visible as a payment option on the Stripe Elements form. Thus, you would need to enable the Stripe Checkout option in your MemberPress settings (Dashboard > MemberPress > Settings > Payments > Stripe Gateway).
Further, BLIK is based on direct payments from the user’s Polish bank account and requires the bank application to work. Accordingly, BLIK supports the Polish Zloty as currency. To use BLIK with MemberPress, please make sure that the currency in MemberPress settings is set to PLN.
In addition, both your Stripe account and MemberPress settings need to be set to one of the following countries to receive payments from your Polish customers through BLIK: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, or Sweden.
You can also find more information about BLIK payments in Stripe documentation.
